This year in English, I have no idea what the test is going to look like. For the mid year exam, we had to make a portfolio with all of our writing from the past term and a half. But, for the end of year exam, Fitz said that there would be something different. We will have to wait and see, but I think that it will entail a large writing piece and lots of commenting. That is what most of this year has been, learning how to write, while using different techniques, and giving feedback through commenting on other classmates posts.
In Spanish, the mid-year exam was hard. It was on what we had already covered, but I didn’t do a great job preparing for it. This time around, I plan to do a much better job studying, while I think that it will be a similar style of test with new info.
Science appears easy, because you can use your lab notebook, but is hard because it is not just spitting the info back at the teacher, it is drawing the correct conclusion. It is knowing how to relate certain topics in a larger scale view of everything. It is thinking outside the box. The test is usually one of the loner exams. I think that it will be similar but, not identical.
Social studies has a lot of writing in it about your views and answers to global based questions, but it depends on what you are studying. In Mrs. Mott's class we are studying the eras that include WWI, WWII and the time in between the two time periods. In our most recent test, there were two parts. The first was fill in the blank type question while the second part was paragraph answers. I think that the final exam will be something like that.
Math, for the midterm there was only 13 questions, so I don’t think that it will be too long of a test. But, Never underestimate. It could be a very short and difficult test. We will have to wait and see.
To wrap things up, I am both nervous and excited for the exams, one, it will affect how you will do next year, and two, it means that summer is around the corner!!
